Last week, a number of large and destructive fires impacted on communities in the state’s north. Today the last of these fires, the Wallangarra fire on the Queensland border, has been contained. Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has thanked firefighters and personnel from the NSW RFS, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Forestry Corporation, as well as all emergency services, who have worked so hard to protect and help the community.
