🔴 Strong Earthquake Strikes Nevada 🔴 A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit near Valmy, Nevada at 11:59 a.m. local time. The quake was shallow, only 6 km deep, and shaking was felt widely, including in Elko. Quakes of this size are rare here. In more than a century, only a handful above magnitude 5 have been recorded in Elko County.
