Shrinking metal isn't common in bodyshops these days but there are rare cases that it doesn't cause a concern such as what you see here. This work/panel van had a nasty, sharp dent in the side panel that stretched out the metal. With out shrinking it back it would have been impossible to straighten this side panel.
