Baka women, members of the Pygmy people of Central Africa, are actively involved in fishing, one of their main sources of food. They use traditional methods such as twig traps, woven baskets, and temporary dams made of leaves and mud in forest streams. Fishing is done collectively and is often accompanied by singing and laughter, strengthening group cooperation. Furthermore, the women teach girls these techniques from a young age, passing on their knowledge of rivers, seasons, and fish habits. #

On my recent trip to Africa, I got to spend 24 hours living with the pygmy tribe in the middle of the rainforest in the Central African Republic.
