The FAST & BEFAST scales are brief scales with components of the NIHSS that can help us recognize strokes faster and outside of tradition areas of health care where people have completed NIHSS training or in emergency triage. A FAST is a classic stroke p resentation with a large vessel occlusion that most people recognize: Facial droop, arm weakness, and speech disturbances. These clinical signs are most common in the MCA territory. Adding the B&E are important for assessment of the posterior ci
