The Royal Navy has successfully test-fired a new long-range missile capable of destroying enemy warships more than 100 miles away while flying close to the speed of sound. The landmark trial, codenamed Aegir 25, took place at the Andøya Rocket Range in Arctic Norway alongside NATO allies Poland and Norway. It marked the first time a Royal Navy warship has launched the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) – a state-of-the-art system designed to replace the ageing Harpoon missile currently carried by Type 2
