The Gambian lawmakers have increased the registration fee for political party from one million to two million Dalasis. However, the current law obliged parties to deposit D1 million to the Independent Electoral Commission to enable them to be registered. During the consideration stage on the election Bill 2021, a number of parliamentarians in the ruling National People's Party NPP supported the increment, arguing it is reasonable.
