Ten Great Slave Revolts in Colonial America and the United States

Led by Gabriel misnomer Gabriel Prosser, an enslaved New Afrikan-Blacksmith in Virginia, the rebellion was a coordinated revolutionary effort aimed at overthrowing slavery, dismantling the planter ruling class, and establishing an independent Black-led nation within the former colony and by 1800 known as the commonwealth of Virginia.
