The Cincinnati Reds placed catcher Tyler Stephenson on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a fractured left thumb. The move is retroactive to Sunday. In a corresponding move, the Reds selected the contract of catcher Will Banfield from Triple-A Louisville.

Cincinnati Reds starting catcher Tyler Stephenson went on the injured list, retroactive to Aug. 17, for a small fracture at the tip of his left thumb.

The Cincinnati Reds' Tyler Stephenson originally hurt the left thumb catching a pitch last week. It was not considered serious enough then for x-rays.
