Flight attendants went on strike after Air Canada gave wage increases to certain employees, including pilots with a 26% rise in 2024, a mostly male-filed role according to CUPE. In contrast, the union said that flight attendants, who are mainly women, received a lower 8% increase in 2025.

The presidents of two major Quebec union federations fear workers in the province could soon face the same treatment as striking Air Canada flight attendants under a provincial law passed in May.

Air Canada is set to resume its flight services on Wednesday, after a nearly four-day strike by its unionized flight attendants left more than 500,000 passengers stranded.
