ST. LOUIS, Mo. ( KTVI) — An adult in Missouri has died after they became infected with a brain-eating amoeba earlier this month, officials have confirmed.

Khalil Bryan was released from a Louisiana detention center in July due to a “misidentification between two individuals with a similar last name,” officials said at the time.
