These states may be next after Republicans gain ground in congressional redistricting as Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe approves new maps amid a nationwide battle for House control.

The Missouri Supreme Court denied a request Wednesday by Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. that would have prevented the certification of Tuesday's recall election results.

Opponents of the GOP plan are trying to gather signatures to put it up for a referendum, which would at least delay the implementation of the new Trump-backed map.

Tuesday's election saw 85% of voters supporting the recall of Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr., which will set off a rush by county legislators to appoint his replacement. But White is asking the Missouri Supreme Court to stop the vote certification.

To vote in today's recall election, residents should go to their assigned voting precinct. Polls are open until 7 p.m.

Residents who didn’t vote early can check the Jackson County and Kansas City election board websites to make sure they know their precinct.

White has served as county executive since 2016. Tens of thousands of signatures were gathered to trigger the special election, which White believes was called illegally.
