GRAND FORKS — A Top 15 matchup in the FCS will play out in the Alerus Center on Saturday when the Fighting Hawks host North Dakota State for the first time since winning the rivalry matchup in the Alerus Center in 2023. The No. 13 Fighting Hawks and No. 1 Bison kick off at 1 p.m.
L.J. Phillips Jr. rushed for 106 yards and added a touchdown, and Dejuan Lewis returned a fumble for a touchdown to lead South Dakota to a 26-21 victory over North Dakota on Saturday.
Defensively, the Coyotes caused three Fighting Hawks turnovers, including interceptions from Matt Walsh and R.J. Stewart in the first half. Coming into the matchup, North Dakota’s offense was averaging 40 points per game, with quarterback Jerry Kaminski tossing 22 touchdowns to just two interceptions, though that latter total doubled Saturday.
