Norway's dominance at the 2026 Winter Olympics reached an historic level on Friday. Norway picked up its 17th gold medal, which set a record for most first-place finishes by a country at a single Winter Games.

A major drought ended, as Alysa Liu became the first American woman since 2006 to medal in figure skating, and the first since 2002 to win gold. She bested Japan's Kaori Sakamoto (silver) and Ami Nakai (bronze) for the top spot after a flawless free skate.

The U.S. is on a gold streak, and hopes to keep it going to finish out their time in Milan Cortina. After leapfrogging Italy in the medal count leaderboard on Thursday, Team USA was looking to add to their tally Friday.
