CINCINNATI (WKRC) - C. Thomas Howell, known for his role as Ponyboy in the 1983 film "The Outsiders," is traveling the country to promote literacy and connect with fans of the classic story.

C. Thomas Howell, who famously played Ponyboy in "The Outsiders," is bringing the movie to Oakmont, Allegheny County, this weekend.

FARGO — While “The Outsiders” is required reading in many middle schools, C. Thomas Howell never picked it up until he auditioned for the part of Ponyboy Curtis as a 14-year-old in 1981.

In an interview with Movieweb last year, Howell opened up about what it was like filming The Outsiders as a teenager, revealing that he didn't know enough to be intimidated by his legendary director.

Howell will be in Brunswick, Georgia, Friday, June 20, for a special screening of “The Outsiders.” He will be joined by fellow cast member Darren Dalton (who played a rival gang member).
