Typhoon Wipha is closing in on northern Vietnam, with its erratic path prompting urgent preparations in Quang Ninh province.
According to the Ninh Binh Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance Department, the province has 1,861 fishing vessels with 5,724 workers operating at sea. By 4:00 PM on July 20, 1,795 boats had safely returned to shore, with the remainder still en route.
Typhoon Wipha has wreaked havoc in Hong Kong and neighboring regions, leading to major flight cancellations and suspended train services. The storm reached maximum winds of 87 mph, forcing over 200 people into shelters and closing amusement parks.
