GUANGZHOU, July 20 (Xinhua) -- South China's coastal regions, including Hainan, Guangdong and Guangxi have been placed on high alert as Typhoon Wipha, the sixth typhoon of the year, made landfall near Jiangmen City in Guangdong around 5:50 p.m. on Sunday.
Typhoon Wipha is the strongest storm to hit Hong Kong in two years, with average wind speeds exceeding 118 kilometers per hour. The last time the No 10 signal was raised was in 2023 when Super Typhoon Saola struck.
