Sorry for my delay, if they are into history, yes, by all means. Either boys or girls but boys at that age may find it more intriguing. hope that helps!
From SFO about 35 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. During the week Bay Area traffic slows down after 3:30 pm. Scenic drive over the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

I recommend that you eat before so you can just enjoy the ship. Great places on Webster St., on the way. Use the YELP website for ideas. Have fun!
My family and I will be taking the ferry to the USS Hornet the first week in June. From the ferry to the Hornet are their buses etc to transport you to the Hornet ?

I'm sorry but there are no buses that go near The Hornet from the Ferry Building. You would have to either call a taxi or use Uber.
